Part 2 of the weird smell in the basement which lead to us calling the gas company, which lead us to finding the deadly levels of CO, which lead to us having to get a new furnace…
The smell lingered in the basement, but we thought that it was just the smell dissipating from the furnace. Dave brought home groceries tonight and had meat to put in the big freezer downstairs (in the basement near the furnace). A few minutes later he came running up the stairs dry-heaving. This is what happened…
There was a chicken - a whole, uncooked chicken - sitting on the top of our big, upright freezer. Rotten and stinking! That's what we had been smelling all along. A chicken is what caused us to call the gas company, therefore finding deadly levels of CO in our house. A chicken! Ok, here's the weird thing: none of us put that chicken there. I used the last whole chicken out of the freezer 2 weeks ago. I KNOW what meat is in the freezer because I plan the meals. God works in MYSTERIOUS ways!!!! That's all I can say. Sometimes I think that He just does these kinds of things just because He can!
